Recent Awards

In recent years, the Company has made many awards in a wide variety of areas under the headings of arts, music and craftsmanship.

In the field of arts, the Company made a grant to Manor CE School in Poppleton, to help it achieve accreditation as a Performing Arts School.  The Company has also sponsored a pupil from Manor School to pursue his aspirations in the theatre.

The Company has also donated prizes to York College students in the final year of their Fashion Design Course.  These prizes are presented to the top fashion students at their very successful annual fashion show at the National Railway Museum.

In the field of music, the Company has recently made an award to Huntington School for the purchase of musical instruments.  The School has a great deal of musical talent of all ages, and this will help in the tuition of the pupils.

In the field of craftsmanship, the Company is actively involved in promoting apprenticeships in the ancient crafts employed in the City of York.  Through the York Consortium for Conservation and Craftsmanship and the York Glaziers Trust, the Company has sponsored a number of young apprentices through their training and intend to continue to help young people in this way.
