Clerk Position

The Company of Merchant Taylors in the City of York is one of the city’s ancient Guilds and the owner of the Merchant Taylors' Hall located in Aldwark. A Registered Charity, its objectives are to maintain the 600 years old Hall and provide charitable support particularly to young people in the York area in the fields of arts and crafts.

The Company is seeking to appoint a Clerk. The Clerk is the senior administrative officer of the Company, reporting to the Master and the Court of Assistants in the running of the Company. The responsibilities of the Clerk include providing financial administration of its affairs, the maintenance of a grade 1 listed building, the management of a catering contract for events taking place at the Hall, and providing services for the membership of the Company, its activities and external relationships.

This appointment is a fixed term Contract for Services for 12 months initially based on 2 - 3 days per week annualised and a remuneration package, subject to negotiation in relation to the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, of between £15-£20k.

It is anticipated that interviews will take place PM Thursday 29th June at the Company's Hall in York. The appointment will be subject to confirmation by the Court in mid-July with the successful candidate taking up the role on a mutually agreed date thereafter.
